I am Korean, and I decided to write this review because I noticed some comments mentioning discrimination against Korean customers. We made a same-day reservation and were asked to come after 10 PM. When we arrived, a female staff member immediately welcomed us and guided us to the second floor. We ordered several varieties of tebasaki, along with draft beer and a sweet sour drink. Later, the same staff member (who appeared to be the bartender) kindly checked on us, asking how the food and drinks were. She also gave us some menu recommendations. The ginger highball she suggested was especially delicious and memorable. Her service was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the visit. As for the tebasaki, the taste was somewhat similar to non-breaded wings I’ve had in Canada, but the texture and seasoning were clearly different. The skin was pleasantly chewy, and the flavor was well-balanced. Highly recommended. The staff member even said goodbye to us before finishing her shift, and the male owner personally took care of our table afterward. When we left, he walked us to the door and thanked us. We did not feel any sense of discrimination at all. Our experience was very positive.
I was looking for a local Nagoya dining experience on my last night in the city, and this izakaya was recommended to me. It turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. The restaurant is quite small and cozy, but I had no problem finding a comfortable seat. In fact, the compact space adds to the traditional and authentic atmosphere that makes this place so charming. I ordered a variety of dishes, including all the different flavors of their famous chicken wings, beef tendon stew, cold tofu, and cucumber with miso paste. Every single dish was delicious. The chicken wings were especially outstanding and absolutely worth trying. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos to share. My hands were too busy (and messy!) enjoying the chicken wings, and before I knew it, all the food was gone before I remembered to take any pictures. If you’re visiting Nagoya and want to try local specialties in a friendly, authentic setting, don’t miss this place. Great food, great atmosphere, and excellent value for money. Highly recommended!
best wings i've had in nagoya, we came here for a late night munch around 11pm and was well worth it. we ordered every flavour of each chicken wings and bonbon wings, and all of them were very good! the tomato salad and sausage sides were also extremely tasty and the tomatoes were perfect as a palette cleanser and refreshing!
Had an amazing time at this cosy little restaurant. The chicken wings and chicken cartilage were my favourite, seasoned perfectly. I also enjoyed the Tomato and Ginger dish that was recommended to us. It did seem like a weird combination at first but it really does work well as a refreshing appetiser. Shout out to Hina who provided excellent service to us!
The highlight is the Tebasaki Chicken (Fried Chicken), crisp on the outside and tender inside. All 3 flavors are nice and well balanced. Can’t decide which one is the best. It’s good to try them all! All other side dishes are well made as well. I have a good cosy dinner here. Staffs are friendly and welcoming!
We had to rush into this place as we were a bit late for dinner. They had many reservations and yet were so kind to take us in for limited time. During our stay their time management was also great as they prepared the dishes quickly and reminded us before we had to leave so could prepare and finalize. Staff were very friendly and talked to us during the meal. The Tebasaki wing Nagoya style was the star of the show while other versions also kept shining. I highly recommend this place.
Some of the best chicken wings we’ve ever had! Made reservations online through Hot Pepper. We really appreciated the English menu and loved the cozy counter seating. Despite the language barrier, all of the staff were extremely kind and attentive! Would definitely come back here the next time we’re in Nagoya!
The best wings I’ve ever had in Japan! If you’re looking for Nagoya style wings this is the only place to go to get your fix! Highly recommend!
I’ve been traveling Japan for the last month and a half, and this is the first time I’ve entered an izakaya(as I don’t drink much), but what a great experience this was. I came here to try Nagoya style chicken wings and wasn’t let down; thin and crispy chicken perfectly fried and seasoned accompanied with a set of pickled veggies, fluffy white rice and a lemon sour to chase it all down; loved every bite of my meal. Not sure if it’s normal procedure for izakayas but I’ve never been in a more lively and chatty setting in a restaurant while being in Japan, it was awesome to be able to chat with the waitresses with my limited Japanese while still being made to feel very welcome; very wonderful staff!
A new restaurant where you can enjoy delicious chicken wings has just opened! We visited "Tebasaki Mutsumi Shinsakae Branch," located in Shinsakae 1-chome, Naka-ku, Nagoya. It's located in a building on the street behind CBC. It just opened in December 2025. We decided to drop in. (^^) Only seven seats at the counter! The very young owner runs the place alone. "Mutsumi" apparently has two locations in the Sumiyoshi area. This one is a franchise. It's amazing how young he is. (^^) I ordered potato salad! The onions were so crunchy! It was packed with ingredients like cream cheese and was so delicious. Doteni! It was the last one! It had a rich, sweet flavor. Pork innards are so delicious. (^^) Next up was bottled beer! Their specialty, of course, is chicken wings! They have so many different flavors it's hard to choose. ★White Chicken Wings Very impressive chicken wings! The "White" is seasoned with salt and pepper♪ The skin is crispy♪ They're large, satisfying, and delicious (^^) ★Bonbon Black The "Bonbon" is a dish that makes chicken wings easier to eat♪ They're like tulips~(^^) The flavor variations are different from regular chicken wings, so they're fun♪ The "Black" has a homemade miso sauce! It's punchy and goes great with beer♪ Delicious~(^^) The chicken wings were absolutely delicious♪ The young owner has great communication skills and creates a beloved atmosphere (^^) That day, I had a great time talking about Vacuum Jessica with the customer sitting next to me♪ It's a shame they didn't win the M-1 again... I'm looking forward to next year♪ Thank you for the meal! More details are available on the Chara Blog♪
Mutsumi's new store It's a little far from the main shopping area, but it seems relatively easy to get a reservation? The number of seats is very small The seasoning seems slightly different from other stores, but it's still delicious.
The chicken neck and wings here are the best in Nagoya. I've been here more than 30 times, so I can say that for sure.
The owner has a great vibe. The food and drinks are both excellent. It's a top-tier restaurant. The owner is apparently working to the best of his ability, so I highly recommend stopping by!
Tebasaki Mutsumi, a specialty chicken wing restaurant in Ebisu 🐓🍻 Located a short walk from Ebisu Station, this popular restaurant is a must-visit for any chicken wing lover. It offers a new way to enjoy chicken wings, going beyond the Nagoya style. This time, we tried a tasting of four different types of chicken wings. Each had a completely different flavor—sweet and spicy sauce, spices, salt, etc.—making it endlessly enjoyable. The outside was crispy and fragrant, the inside juicy, and before you knew it, you could eat several! 🦃 And you absolutely must try the potato salad. Its appearance is striking, resembling a Mont Blanc. With its smooth texture and exquisite seasoning, it's perfect with drinks. It's a great palate cleanser between bites of chicken wings. ◎ The yakisoba (fried udon noodles) we had at the end was also incredibly delicious. The flat, chewy noodles, similar to kishimen, paired perfectly with the savory sauce, making for a truly satisfying dish. The restaurant had a lively yet relaxed atmosphere, making it a great place for dates, drinks with friends, or a drink after work. 🍻
Tebasaki Mutsumi / Ebisu * A sister restaurant of Tebasaki Mutsumi Sakae Main Store, a popular restaurant in Nagoya where reservations are essential, has landed in Ebisu, Tokyo for the first time. We visited Tebasaki Mutsumi Ebisu, a restaurant known for its casual atmosphere where you can easily drop in, have a drink, and enjoy authentic flavors. * Their signature chicken wings come in four variations of "addictively delicious" sauces: (Black) Sweet Sauce, (White) Salt and Pepper, (Red) Spicy Sauce, and (Ebisu) Garlic Truffle. The taste is so addictive you'll want to eat it again and again. You can enjoy authentic chicken wings in a stylish, retro, and comfortable space. ・ ・ Appetizer 450 yen Assorted 4 kinds of chicken wings 858 yen x 2 〈Black (sweet sauce), White (salt and pepper), Red (spicy sauce), Ebisu (garlic truffle)〉 Black chicken wings 649 yen Ponpon Ebisu (garlic truffle) 759 yen Ponpon Black 759 yen Ebisu potato salad 792 yen Salt-grilled chicken thigh 748 yen Nanko plum and cucumber 462 yen Sour, tea-based cocktail 550-580 yen (Budget) ¥4,000-5,000 ・ ・ The seasoning is a little on the strong side, but it pairs exceptionally well with alcohol and is great to enjoy with drinks. The signature chicken wings are well-seasoned, the popular Bonhon is juicy, and the other menu items are also great for enjoying with drinks. If you want to try authentic Nagoya-style chicken wings, or if you're a chicken wing lover, this is a casual place to stop by. It's delicious, highly recommended!
Located right near Ebisu Station, "Tebasaki Mutsumi" is a lively and welcoming place with friendly staff. The minimalist interior means it's best to travel light. The complimentary chilled "crispy bell peppers" are delicious, and the signature "four-kind chicken wing platter" is served piping hot and fresh, with a rich flavor that pairs perfectly with drinks. I especially love the "Ebisu" garlic truffle flavor, exclusive to the Ebisu branch. Another signature dish, "Bonbon," is juicy, and the "Ebisu potato salad," piped like a Mont Blanc right in front of you, is a fun and entertaining presentation. The deep-fried yam and bamboo shoot simmered in Tosa-style sauce that we ordered were also delicious, and the rich chicken broth soup served as a complimentary dish at the end was incredibly comforting. This is my top recommendation for a fun and lively night out enjoying delicious chicken wings near the station.
This izakaya opened in December 2025, less than a 10-minute walk from Shinsakaemachi Station. I visited on a weekday evening. There are seven seats at the counter, and when I arrived around 6:15 PM, there were only two other groups of customers. The menu included signature dishes like chicken wings and bonbon skewers, grilled dishes like thighs, chicken neck, and pork innards, as well as a la carte dishes like konjac roe, red sausages, beef tendon with ponzu sauce, and deep-fried yam. I ordered the chicken wings and the dote-ni and four kinds of deep-fried marinades from the blackboard menu. First, I started with the dote-ni, which is pork innards rather than beef tendons, but it was reasonably priced at 380 yen, so it was fine. The sweet, rich, yet not overpowering miso was well-infused, and the tangy kick of chili pepper added a nice kick. Next, I ordered the chicken wings. They come in three flavors: black with a homemade sweet sauce, white with salt and pepper, and red with a homemade spicy sauce, of which I chose the black. The crispness was just right, not too strong, and the meat was juicy and went well with the rich sweet sauce. It was delicious. The other specialty, bonbon, is also made from chicken wings, but they have made it easier to eat and changed the sauce, so I would like to try it if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.
I went at 6 PM on a weekday. The chicken wings were tender and delicious. It was my first time trying bonbon (a type of fried chicken), and it went really well with drinks. I'd only ever had chicken wings with salt and pepper before, but this restaurant offers a four-flavor platter with sweet sauce, salt and pepper, spicy, and garlic truffle. I also thought the potato salad in Ebisu was interesting, with its Mont Blanc-like appearance. It seems like a good place for both a first or second stop of the evening.
